1Melt butter or oil over medium heat.butter or oil: 2 tbsp

2Add celery , onion , caraway seeds , and fennel seeds . Saute until vegetables are crisp-tender.celery: 1 (chopped), onion: 1 (diced), caraway seeds: 2 tsp, fennel seeds: 1 tsp

4Add water and chicken stock , carrots , and potatoes . Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to low boil.water: 2 c, chicken stock: 2 c, carrots: 2 (sliced), potatoes: 4-6 (diced), salt, pepper
